Discover the Real You
Life has presented us with so many challenges recently. So many things that we took for granted have changed. Who we believe we are is often formed by our external roles and interactions, such as being an accountant, carpenter, mother or father. When external disruptions occur, our external reference points can change, and we can no longer define who we are. This occurs for example when somebody loses their job. Our true understanding of ourselves and who we are needs to come from inside and not be dictated to us by our circumstances so you can finally discover the real you.
Feeling that we have lost track of who we are can be due to
- Never really knowing who we are or what we want in life or
- Having known it once and losing it due to life’s circumstances.
However, it is possible to discover or rediscover who you are. By reflecting on your life and what is important to you, you can begin to find the true you.
So let us start the journey by asking some key questions.
Discover the real you – What are your values?
Your values give us an insight into who you are on a deeper level.
To determine what values are most important to you, it can be helpful to take some time to reflect on your past experiences. What moments in your life have been most memorable? What values were you supporting in those situations?
You can also think about times when you haven’t felt very good about yourself. What values were you neglecting in those moments?
Additionally, consider what values are essential to the people who are most important to you. What values do you share with them? By taking some time to reflect on your past experiences and relationships, you should be able to identify which values are most important to you.
Make a list of these values.
Once you understand who you are, it is important to start living according to your values and goals. This can be difficult if your current lifestyle does not align with your values, but it is vital to make changes to live a more authentic life. Going against your core values will leave you unhappy, unfulfilled and restless.
Making changes can be scary, but it is essential to remember that you are the only one who can control your life. You have the power to make the changes that you need to live a happy and fulfilling life.
Discover the Authentic you – What do you enjoy doing?
One of the most important things you can do is figure out what you enjoy doing. What are the activities that make you lose track of time? What are the things you enjoy so much that you would do them even if you weren’t getting paid?
Once you have a good idea of the types of things you enjoy, you can start looking for ways to incorporate them into your life.
One of the best ways to figure out what you enjoy doing is to try new things. Experiment with different hobbies and activities, and see what you have fun with. It’s important to enjoy what you’re doing, so don’t force yourself to do something that doesn’t make you happy.
Discover the real you – What makes you happy?
Happiness is a good indicator that you’re doing something that aligns with who you are at your core. Once you know what brings you joy, you can start creating a life full of happiness and contentment by incorporating these things in your life as much as possible.
There are many ways to figure out what makes you happy. One way is to take time for yourself and think about the things that make you feel good. Another way is to experiment with different activities and see which ones you enjoy the most. You could also ask your friends and family what they think makes you happy.
Whatever method you use, it’s essential, to be honest with yourself. Once you know what makes you happy, commit to incorporating more of those things into your life.
Once you have answered these questions, you will start understanding who you truly are. It may take some time and reflection, but it will be worth it in the end. You are the only one who can discover who you are, so take your time and enjoy the journey.
